Snow Day

Hubby says it's March, and that means SPRING! But it snowed anyway. I love the look of snow, and the kids do, too, but we're not big get-out-and-spend-the-day-wet-and-cold-sledding-building-snowmen-building-snow-forts type of folk. We really just go out so we can justify coming back in and consuming ridiculous quantities of hot cocoa. So we spent almost an hour finding all the snow clothes, convincing the girls that bunchy layers were ok ("you WILL do this if you want hot cocoa" argument from me...), hunting down hats that always seem to disappear just when you need them, and finding glove mates (who I am sure are off canoodling with my missing sock mates!). By the time we were ready to go out, Rella was reminding me of Ralphie's little brother, heading stiffly to the door in all her layers. The kids lasted about 20 minutes, and they were in pretty good cheer! Hi-Hat was a little disappointed that the sledding was not great and that the snow wouldn't pack for snowballs, but they ran around with friends, threw piles of snow, ate lots of snow, and took some very slow rides down the hill.

And then we came in for cocoa. :)
