OK, so when we went outside to try out the girls' new wheels, it felt like it was about 60 degrees, but we came in and had our Christmas hot cocoa anyway. We used the new hot chocolate pot and funny Disney mugs that were under the tree, and I have to say this was the BEST hot cocoa ever, even if it is a warm day outside. Mmmmmm... yummy!
We spent a lot of time during the first part of the week waiting in lines to meet Disney characters. I made autograph books for K&A, and I believe they both came home full! EB was too scared to get close to any character, but she didn't seem to mind waiting and watching from afar.
One page done before Christmas! woo-hoo! A was all about meeting her beloved princesses on this visit to Disney. Many times this fall she asked me if we could "go to Disney World tomorrow to see my princesses." We managed to find everyone except Ariel, which is a shame since she's her favorite, but she wasn't too disappointed since we met her last time. Oh to be 4 again and be in awe of the princesses!
Today we had drama in the van on the way home from kindergarten. The story began with, "Mom? I found this tiny little tag inside my coat, so I bit it and pulled as hard as I could with my teeth." Me: "Were you trying to rip the tag out?" K: "No, I was hoping to pull some teeth out." Good grief! Poor guy wants so badly to lose a tooth and one of his classmates had the nerve to actually lose a tooth at school today!!! So we rode the rest of the way home with K bawling in the backseat, saying he would be as big as Daddy and still have baby teeth and that it was "NO FAIR!" (ah - gotta love kindergarten when we all learn NO FAIR!).
We had been promising all week that the kids could eat their gingerbread house tonight. I had no expectations for the event, other than a disappointing mess when they realized how hard the cookies and icing were after sitting on the counter for a week. But, I have to give them credit for diligently eating away at what I thought was a pretty questionable dessert. Oh well. They thought it was fun! The cookies and icing WERE hard as rocks, and I would bet that if K did have any loose teeth in there, one would have fallen out tonight after all that hard crunching. How to explain to your 5 year old that it's ok not to grow up too fast...
This is an edit to the previous post. EB is not saying "noo, baby" when I ask if she needs help with something. She's saying, "noo, EB." Now that makes much more sense! We call her that all the time, and had I been listening well and thinking the first few times I think I would have figured it out. :)
Another post to help me remember the cute stuff. EB is becoming very independent (wait, really? Isn't she the one who still screams if I leave her sight? OK, she's independent if I'm with her...). She likes to try to do things for herself: pouring her cereal, walking down the stairs, putting on her socks and shoes, putting on her coat. Is she successful? Not really, with the exception of walking down the stairs, but it's funny to watch her try. She has also learned the word "no." She says it very quietly and shakes her head while she says it. So, when she's trying to do something on her own and I ask her if she'd like help, she usually shakes her head and says, "nooooo, baby," meaning baby (ie EB) will do it. Funny to me that she refers to herself as baby. When I ask her to point to EB she looks at me like I'm nuts. I must baby her enough that she thinks that's her name. Guess that's how it is with #3!
