Bow-zos

So I think it was last year that I got onto a bow-making kick and made A a ton of new hairbows. No sooner had I packed away the hot glue gun when she decided she would no longer wear hair bows. She has wanted absolutely nothing done with her hair for quite some time now. Well in the last couple weeks, she's learned how to do her own ponytails and clips, and she is showing some interest in bows again. This is probably because she wants to grow her hair long and she needs to avoid getting it caught in her new earrings. She won't yet wear one to school or church, but she likes to play with them. And she really likes having a little sister to decorate. This is how I found EB yesterday (I'm thinking the inspiration for this do was K's mohawk).
EB quickly decided this was not going to suit her, so A did her own hair. She's not quite there yet on knowing what looks good, but at least she's wearing bows again. x:)

Mom? I Need Some Product

K was in need of a haircut tonight. I'm always trying to talk him into a mohawk. I don't know why - I just think it would be fun and quite unexpected on him. Tonight he let me cut one (albeit a very modest one) and said I could leave it for "5 seconds." We left it a little longer for pictures, and I think he was this close to wanting to keep it. In the end he told me just to buzz it off, but that next time he would keep it and wear it to school. We'll see about that!

Project 365, Week 3

Here's my page for week 3. I took most of the pictures with trusty old Mr. Fuji since I can keep it in my pocket or purse or on the counter without the constant worry of a small 19-month-old hand grabbing for the big mama cam. It was a snowy week and school was closed for most of it, so we stayed around the house.
Week3
Snapshots of this week:
- spotted K having some alone time in the basement with his guitar and blasting Dave Matthews on his ipod.
- G was home Monday and made the kids ice cream Mondaes
- Inauguration day was a snow day!
- K's best bud came over for some sledding in the backyard
- Ladies's meal swap in the Chili's parking lot. Our garage freezer netted 10 more meals! Yay!
- A and I worked on making Valentines for her classmates
- G&I had a real, honest to goodness, just the two of us date night! Woo hoo! Went to the Duck and Dumpling downtown and then to the mall to shop for G. Couldn't decide between a a picture of my pink date night toenails or of G trying on his new Chip and Pepper jeans and Juicy Couture ski cap (who would imagine he could be so cool!), so just went with the restaurant sign. :)

Snow Day

Well, the girls are a bit wimpy when it comes to playing in the snow. A does not like to wear layers ("it's too bunchy!), EB does not like to cold, the wet, the difficult walking, the bright sun, and on and on, and I don't like being out there and worrying about the camera (and NO, I can't leave it inside and just have fun!). But, I can at least make it look like we all had a fabulous time in the yard! :) Our afternoon play time was much better since G came home early, G brought K some new snow boots, K was able to go sledding with some friends, and EB was snuggled in her warm, dry bed. School is cancelled tomorrow, so I suppose we'll be out there doing it all over again!

and here's A's afternoon snow saga:
(was in a funk to begin with thanks to bunchy clothes; finally agreed to take a sled ride; LOVED the sled ride and laughed the whole way down; crashed into a teeny tiny tree at the bottom of the hill; cried the rest of the afternoon. Poor Ad!)

Week 2 is complete! Here are the snippets from our week (shoe shopping, biking in a tutu, chess with Dad, collecting gumballs for cash, meatballs, cold day, and newborn photos).

It's Cold Outside!!!

I think the high today is 27, but as bad as I thought that would be, I was pleasantly surprised to head out to carpool and find that it was bearable with the sun shining! As much as I don't like cold weather, I think cold weather kids are awfully cute! AND, a cold day is made much more bearable if you have a crock pot full of meatballs and sauce simmering. Aaaah - breath deep!

There's Just Something About Being a Girl

That makes you want to ride down the sidewalk in your tutu.  Can I be 4 again, just for 1 day?
