Duh

This is an edit to the previous post.  EB is not saying "noo, baby" when I ask if she needs help with something.  She's saying, "noo, EB."  Now that makes much more sense!  We call her that all the time, and had I been listening well and thinking the first few times I think I would have figured it out. :)

So Says EB

Another post to help me remember the cute stuff.  EB is becoming very independent (wait, really? Isn't she the one who still screams if I leave her sight? OK, she's independent if I'm with her...).  She likes to try to do things for herself: pouring her cereal, walking down the stairs, putting on her socks and shoes, putting on her coat.  Is she successful?  Not really, with the exception of walking down the stairs, but it's funny to watch her try.  She has also learned the word "no."  She says it very quietly and shakes her head while she says it.  So, when she's trying to do something on her own and I ask her if she'd like help, she usually shakes her head and says, "nooooo, baby," meaning baby (ie EB) will do it.  Funny to me that she refers to herself as baby.  When I ask her to point to EB she looks at me like I'm nuts.  I must baby her enough that she thinks that's her name. Guess that's how it is with #3!

Snippets from our Day

I haven't had one of these in ages, but today was the kind of Saturday I really like. Nothing to do, nowhere to go, so we stayed home all day. Hate to see the day end, but it's already tomorrow and I really must get some sleep! Here are a few snippets from our day together.

performing surgery on our sub woofer to extract a ping pong ball that someone thought would be fun to stick inside... crazy college kids!
Geof played chess with K&A - I think we may have found something A could really get into!
We assembled our pre-lit tree. Didn't smell as nice as a fresh one, but zero needles to vacuum and no watering. Can't beat it.
Then, of course, we decorated. EB didn't quite know what to make of it, but she said tree a lot and she was fond of the Sesame Street ornaments.
K&A worked together to assemble and decorate a gingerbread house (again, not fresh, but prebaked and ready to go - can't beat that either!)
Spending the evening listening to K rock out in the basement on his new stage with stage lights. Doesn't get much cooler than that!

Melting Down to Ice Cream and Cake

This song is stuck in my head now. And I want some ice cream. And some cake.

Preschool Thanksgiving

Papers that came home in A' preschool tote bag today:

"How to Cook a Turkey"
by A
You mix sauce and put it on the turkey.  You put it in the oven for 1 minute and then put it on the oven to cool down and you eat it.
(now, this may be quite helpful to me.  It turns out I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 15 on Thursday and I have NO IDEA how to cook a turkey.  This sounds like a good starting point and it sounds like much less prep time than I had anticipated!)

What she's thankful for:
"I am thankful for Ellary, my mom, my dad, Kellen and stingrays."

her sporty new look

Yay! Her hair is finally long enough to do something with! Actually, it's starting to look a little mullet-ish, so I pulled it back this morning and she has left it all day. She brought me the bow, which I think looks like a gift bow just stuck on the back of her head, but cute nonetheless!

Birthday

Last weekend we went to Virginia to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday! It was a beautiful day in the valley, and we had a fun time visiting with my brothers and sister, my parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents. EB and A were usually to be found in the trampoline - are they REALLY as dangerous as they say? They had SO MUCH FUN and got SO MUCH EXERCISE that I made me want to run right out and get one. But I didn't. Oh well. Here are a few pictures from our day.
